New Businesses in West Northants: 57 Firms, 3 Weeks

Fifty-seven new companies were registered with an office in West Northamptonshire between 20 August and 9 September. Business services, retail and transport firms made up more than half of them. In the same weeks, the Gazette carried insolvency notices for a Guildhall Road clothes shop and a company trading from Towcester Racecourse.

This roundup is built from Companies House records and notices in The Gazette. We name companies and their declared business only. Many new firms are registered at a home, so we give the postcode district rather than an address.

What people are starting

Each company declares its business using a standard industry code when it registers. Grouped by the first code each one gave, the 57 break down like this:

A few stand out:

• Care and childcare. Amplify Care Limited (NN2) is registered for residential care for people with learning difficulties or mental health needs. Wonder Play Club Ltd (NN5) lists child day-care and sports club activities.
• A GP-style practice. Dr.Happy Ltd (NN1) is registered for general medical practice activities.
• Rail and civils. GKE & Rail Construction Ltd (NN2) is registered for railway construction and civil engineering.
• Heating engineers. Three new plumbing, heating and air-conditioning firms: Element Energy (NN3), Macmarlloe (NN1) and Collingtree Cool (NN4).
• Haulage. Four new road freight companies, plus a taxi firm, Rider Cabs Limited (NN3).

Registering a company does not mean it has started trading. Some never do.

Companies in insolvency

These are the notices for companies that trade, or traded, in West Northamptonshire. We have left out firms that only appear because their liquidator has a Northampton office: Wycliffe Road and St James Road are home to insolvency practitioners’ offices, so many notices mention Northampton without the business having been here. We have also left out personal bankruptcies.

Renee’s, Guildhall Road, Northampton. Earthwalk Limited, which trades as Renee’s at 28 Guildhall Road, has called a virtual creditors’ meeting for 30 September. A resolution to wind the company up will be considered that day. It is registered as a clothing retailer. The notice does not say whether the shop has stopped trading. (Gazette notice 5215890)

TRC Events & Leisure Ltd, Towcester Racecourse. The company went into creditors’ voluntary liquidation on 26 August. The Gazette gives its principal trading address as Towcester Racecourse, London Road, and its business as “other service activities not elsewhere classified”. (Gazette notice 5203756)

Two more local companies are being closed while solvent. This is a members’ voluntary liquidation, which is often a retirement or a tidy-up, not a failure:

• GAT Developments (Midlands) Limited, construction, trading from Teeton Mill near Holdenby, from 21 September
• Wellbeing Fitness Education Centre Ltd, fitness, trading from Old Greens Norton Road, Towcester, from 7 September
